(beginners)

We are Terje and Jocke Salokorpi. We are the founders of the Ashtanga Yoga School of Tallinn, the first Ashtanga school in Estonia (Est. 2007). After teaching the traditional method for 10 years, we started to teach and practice in a slightly more “relaxed” way. We teach daily live classes online, using the Zoom platform. In addition to the online classes, you can connect with us in-person in our many workshops and retreats.

Have fun. Get fit. Never quit!

YOGAFUNC is a fitness yoga class with music, based on the traditional techniques (asana, breath, vinyasa) from Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. It is not a traditional yoga class but a fun and effective training method suitable for everyone who wants to get a taste of yoga, without diving deep into a traditional yoga system. The benefits of training regularly include: gained strength, improved flexibility, better balance and body awareness, and peace of mind.

All YOGAFUNC releases can be found here.

A short-form class of the latest release (#38) can be found at the bottom of this page.

“Revive and realize.”

YINFUNC is the younger sibling for YOGAFUNC. It’s the class that balances the Yang style YOGAFUNC class. When the Yang aspect is dynamic and strong, the Yin aspect is passive and soft. It’s the yoga class that helps us release tension, go into deeper openings, and slow down the mind.

YINFUNC will be tested out during this fall/winter and officially launched in March 2021. YINFUNC material will be available for all YOGAFUNC instructors through our Patreon page, with no extra cost.

“Practice, practice, have fun, and practice.”

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic yoga practice, created and popularized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, also known as “Guruji”. In the core of the practice is a strong breathing technique, called the Ujjayi breathing. The sequence of poses, and the movement in and out of them, is led by this breath, calming down and balancing the nervous system and the mind. After a decade of teaching the rather strict method Ashtanga Yoga, we started to shift our approach to a more relaxed way of teaching.

All our pre-recorded Ashtanga Yoga classes can be found here.

Pranayama means the control of the breath. With different breathing techniques and practices, one can influence the nervous system. Just as the asana practice does, when practiced properly with the breath. The breathing practices we teach help to regulate our body-mind system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which leads to stress relief and relaxation.

All in-person, OOOM Yoga workshops are small-group workshops with maximum of 10 participants. This ensures we can have a more personal approach with the topic at hand and with the people participating. These workshops are held in our workshop/retreat location in Koskenpää, Finland. It’s an old school, in the middle of the forest, surrounded by peaceful nature, prana (life force) and stillness.

Foundation vs BTS: We have two types of workshops: 1) Foundation and 2) Beneath The Surface (BTS). Foundation workshops are intense workshops where we learn everything regarding the practice of Ashtanga Yoga (1st or 2nd series). In the BTS workshops, we study ourselves: the subconscious, conscious, and superconscious mind. These workshops are connected to the natural world around us, following the rhythms we see in nature. All of these workshops include daily asana, pranayama, and yin practices.

Prices: Foundation and BTS workshops are three days long and cost 300€, including everything (the practices, accommodation, vegan food, sauna, unlimited amount of prana). The retreats start with the Foundation Workshop and continue with regular practice days. These days cost 65€ each. If you join for the whole retreat (10 days) you get a small discount. If you are a student or have challenges financially, write to us. We can figure something out. We believe yoga is for everyone!
